My next debate opponent: Jim Cramer?

Jim Cramer, host of CNBC’s “Mad Money,” made headlines last week when he compared oil companies to tobacco companies and said they’re in the “death knell phase.”

I thought this would be a great debate topic, so I tweeted

Jim responded by retweeting the following from one of his fans.

Feel free to join the Twitter conversation and encourage Jim and/or CNBC to have this debate. Or, if you are interested in hosting such an event (it would require a big venue) let me know.

Recent and upcoming speaking

Last week I had the pleasure of speaking at the annual retreat of Flogistix, an innovative company that captures methane (gas) vapors from oil operations so they can be used for energy instead of escaping into the atmosphere.

My favorite part of the event was the Q&A, which lasted a full 1 hour and 15 minutes.

One message I shared with the Flogistix team is that the oil industry has a proud history of not only producing the world’s most versatile, valuable form of energy, but also of “transforming waste into wealth.” What was once the waste product of a barrel of oil is now used to produce values such as bulletproof vests, memory foam beds, and artificial hearts.

My high level message was that the fossil fuel industry is making the world a better place to live—and a world of 8 billion people where 3 billion have virtually no energy needs more of their product, not less. This moral clarity is needed more than ever this election year.

Here are a couple of pictures from the event.

I will share a similar message in two weeks at Colorado Mesa University, in front of an expected audience approaching 1,000 people. The event will be on February 20th at 6 PM. More details coming next week.
